Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Library

about-img

This archive was designed to allow public access to all of the scanned scroll fragments that were found in the Judean Desert along the western shore of the Dead Sea. Using Google’s imaging technology, users can explore the scrolls like never before.

The backend had to be capable of handling the large amount of data and ElasticSearch was used to provide a reliable and fast way to search through the archive. The presentation of the scrolls’ fragments was built on top of Google’s map API technology, to support the display of hi-def images.
